Fun with my lovely ladies....

Lindsay, one of my old college roommates and ADPi pledge sister, had her housewarming party this past weekend. Jason and I went and had a great time. It was good to see so many sorority sisters that I hadn't seen in awhile. The one thing I love about these girls is that even though we may only see each other a couple times a year or even longer spans than that, we pick up right off where we left off. We were all in our sorority back in the day *cough* 7-8 years ago *cough*. Kori, Lindsay, and I were all pledge sisters in the Fall '98 at Tech and those were some of the best years of my life. Several of the other girls there were a year or two older than us, but we all spent 3-4 years together and made lifelong friends.

Oops....

Ha! I was at a 5th grade parent meeting yesterday and was talking to 2 neighbors who have boys our boys' age. One suggested carpooling in the mornings for next school year. I agreed that it sounded like a great idea. As Im walking back to my car, I realize that ummm..yeah that won't work. I drive a Jetta, which can barely haul my boys and their stuff to school, so I don't think taking 4 boys to school in my car will work. Both other moms drive mini-vans. We were planning on buying a new kid hauler this fall, but now plan on waiting to see what happens with the car industry. I already have picked out what I want - a GMC Acadia - but if GM does indeed file bankruptcy, I'm not sure, which is why we are waiting. Guess I'll have to break the news to them that carpooling won't work for us, which really doesn't bother me b/c if our boys want to walk to school in the mornings, I don't have to worry about having to pick up the other kids on the weeks that it would've been my turn.

On another note, the mom I was talking to said that she will be picking the boys up from school so she could pick up our boys. She won't allow her son to walk home. Mind you, we live 1.26 miles from the Middle School. I guess I don't understand why she is so adament about not allowing her kids to walk home. Tristen currently walks home and we've had absolutely no problems at all. I know our boys feel a sense of 'freedom' by walking home. I guess some parents just shelter their kids more than others. (I'm not saying that either way is right or wrong; to each their own.)

PS. - Kids are expensive. Next school year hasn't even started yet and I just paid $141 for school supplies (pre-packaged), PE Clothes, and Spirit Wear. Sheesh!

My booboo....

This morning I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed knowing that Friday would be here soon. (We are leaving on vacation on Friday.) All was well as I was heading out the door to take the boys to school, but decided to rush back into the house to make sure I had unplugged my hair straightener. As I'm half way running out the door in my 3 1/2" heels (not an uncommon thing for me to do...I've mastered that skill), I grab the door (that goes into the garage) to shut it and shut my finger in the door. I screamed, and shouted a few choice words. I just thought my fingernail was going to be purple. Nope, I took off about a nickel sized area of skin. So, my finger is now bleeding and has skin hanging. I'm trying not to cry, but still saying a few choice words. I go back inside to get a rag so I can at least get the boys to school. All the while, they are unsure if I'm ok, and unsure what to do. I was in sooo much pain, I couldn't find the tears to cry. I knew I had to drive the boys to school (and find better words to say in front of them) and called Jason on the way. His work is on my way to work and less than a mile from our house so I just told him I'd come by there for him to evaluate it, ya know...since he JUST finished becoming an EMT-B. Finally after what seemed like ETERNITY...I made it to his work. (It was only like 15 minutes after it had happened. He looked at it and so did another guy who works with him who use to be a paramedic. I had 2 options....go get stitches even though it probably isn't necessary or just let it heal. I opted to just let it heal. Jason took me back home to get it cleaned up and I cried and cried. Now....it is all bandaged up and looks like this. Um, yeah, 99.99999999% of my job is on the computer. It has taken me 4 times as long to type this stupid thing. BLAH...this sucks! I'm supposed to be putting an ice pack on my finger, but seriously....I cannot work with one hand! Not possible.

Hydrangea

I love hydrangeas and we never saw this bloom last year. It is thriving this Spring. It was planted by our previous owners in an odd spot and not really visible from the street. I'm debating uprooting it and moving it but scared I might kill it.

Busy times....

Ah....the story of my life - busy, busy times. Everything seems to be getting busier as the school year is ending. Due to the crazy freakout of the swine flu, meetings and field trips were canceled. Now they are rescheduling all of the meetings and field trips causing complete mayhem in my life. This week:

• Today- Colby's Band Interview (if he decides to do band)
• Tuesday-Colby's baseball game
• Wednesday - Nothing....at least nothing I can remember
• Thursday - Tristen's parent meeting for Athletics & Colby's baseball game at the same time. Um..yeah, haven't figure out how I'm going to be in 2 places at the same time. Hopefully, Jason won't have class.
• Friday - Colby's Spring Fling Dance @ school
• Saturday - Tristen's Spring Band Concert, Housewarming Party for a girlfriend & a Birthday Party for one of Jason's friends.

Next week is pretty much just as crazy and then we leave for San Antonio on Friday! YAY!!!! :)

Baseball...

Baseball not only is huge in our house, it has now started to take over my wardrobe and shoes!!! Not only do we all have game day shirts for Colby's games (I actually have 2 different game day shirts, a sweatshirt, and a tank top waiting to be designed...LOL!), I've now got bows for my flip flops!! One of the moms that I hang out with made these for all of the other moms on the team. I love that they aren't permanently attached so I can take them on and off as I please.

Baby Gift.....I'm going to be in t.r.o.u.b.l.e

If/when I have a baby girl, I'm going to be in trouble. One of my good friends, Dominique, just had her 2nd baby girl. I had to find just the RIGHT gift and no better place to find it than Etsy. I searched and searched for the perfect gift. Breah, the new baby, has a room decorated with zebra print and hot pink accents. Here is what I ended up finding for Breah. I had only ordered the hooded bath towel and the bloomers. The sweet seller - Lil Pink Chicken - added in a burb cloth and bib b/c there was a delay with the bloomers. I love every bit of it and I'm going to be in soooo much trouble if/when I have a little girl. I'm going to have to find some self-control!
