Text Conversation with Jason

I'm at work while Jason and the boys are enjoying a snow day at home. I'm sitting at work and my back is seriously killing me, so I decided to let Jason know. LOL!

Me: O-M-G....My back hurts sooooo bad!!!
Jason: Sorry baby. I can rub it when you get home.
An hour later.....he responds:
Jason: This will make your back feel better......You might have to sit down for this.......... (with a lot of space in b/w this).......................................... I'm doing laundry!!!!

I literally busted out laughing! I honestly don't mind doing laundry. I know, I'm strange, very strange, but I'm thankful J is helping on his rare weekday off.

New Hobby

This is going to be a rare post about me and me only. I have finally found me a hobby, if that is what you want to call it. I've gotten back into running after taking a 12 year hiatus. Back track 12 years ago, and I was a runner in high school. I was in the best shape of my life, played volleyball, basketball and ran track. Yeah sure that was 12 years ago. I went off to college and working out fell to the wayside. I did it here and there but was never something I did routinely. It has been the same way ever since then. I've never really dieted, but I go through phases when I really watch what I eat/drink. When Jason and I first met, I use to go beer for beer with him. I look back at pictures and I'm slightly mortified at how round my face is. I stopped drinking beer, or at least as much beer and the weight fell off.

So, here we are today, I'm pushing 29, I'm at my ideal weight and don't want to lose any weight. I've been comfortable with my weight for the past 2 years and I rarely have done any working out, but I'm 'mushy skinny'. I really need to tone my legs specifically, but solely running isn't going to do that. About 3 weeks ago, I started running/working out with Colby's baseball coach's wife, Cari. While she is in much better shape than me and is a triathlete, we motivate each other and I love running with her. She runs at her pace and I run at my pace. She pushes me and that is what I need. Trying to motivate myself, just isn't as easy. We are going to start biking, kayaking and who knows what else. I just registered for my first 5K (3.1 miles) run, which is on August 1st. I'm uber excited about it! My mile split times right now are rather measly compared to what they were back in the day. I remember my best split and while I'm not sure if I'll ever achieve that again, I'm setting that as a lofty goal.

I have a nifty app on my iPhone that tracks my run distance, time, etc. Once I save it, it uploads it to the web, so I can see how I'm progressing. I love it! Overall, I'm feeling better. Jason says my a$$ looks better, not that he was ever complaining. LOL! I'm excited to get back in better shape, which overall will help me when I hopefully get pregnant later this summer.

(Why do I always feel guilty writing about myself????)

Fun with my lovely ladies....

Lindsay, one of my old college roommates and ADPi pledge sister, had her housewarming party this past weekend. Jason and I went and had a great time. It was good to see so many sorority sisters that I hadn't seen in awhile. The one thing I love about these girls is that even though we may only see each other a couple times a year or even longer spans than that, we pick up right off where we left off. We were all in our sorority back in the day *cough* 7-8 years ago *cough*. Kori, Lindsay, and I were all pledge sisters in the Fall '98 at Tech and those were some of the best years of my life. Several of the other girls there were a year or two older than us, but we all spent 3-4 years together and made lifelong friends.

Jason happily tagged along....he loves my girls!

My booboo....

This morning I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed knowing that Friday would be here soon. (We are leaving on vacation on Friday.) All was well as I was heading out the door to take the boys to school, but decided to rush back into the house to make sure I had unplugged my hair straightener. As I'm half way running out the door in my 3 1/2" heels (not an uncommon thing for me to do...I've mastered that skill), I grab the door (that goes into the garage) to shut it and shut my finger in the door. I screamed, and shouted a few choice words. I just thought my fingernail was going to be purple. Nope, I took off about a nickel sized area of skin. So, my finger is now bleeding and has skin hanging. I'm trying not to cry, but still saying a few choice words. I go back inside to get a rag so I can at least get the boys to school. All the while, they are unsure if I'm ok, and unsure what to do. I was in sooo much pain, I couldn't find the tears to cry. I knew I had to drive the boys to school (and find better words to say in front of them) and called Jason on the way. His work is on my way to work and less than a mile from our house so I just told him I'd come by there for him to evaluate it, ya know...since he JUST finished becoming an EMT-B. Finally after what seemed like ETERNITY...I made it to his work. (It was only like 15 minutes after it had happened. He looked at it and so did another guy who works with him who use to be a paramedic. I had 2 options....go get stitches even though it probably isn't necessary or just let it heal. I opted to just let it heal. Jason took me back home to get it cleaned up and I cried and cried. Now....it is all bandaged up and looks like this. Um, yeah, 99.99999999% of my job is on the computer. It has taken me 4 times as long to type this stupid thing. BLAH...this sucks! I'm supposed to be putting an ice pack on my finger, but seriously....I cannot work with one hand! Not possible.

Busy Amanda....

I thought Fridays weren't supposed to be this busy. This has been my day so far and what my tentative agenda is for the remainder of the day. I'm so exhausted already and it is only 3:27pm. Caffiene is calling my name. I must go find some soon.

  • Colby’s flight was at 6:40am, so we had to get up at 4:30am. (Colby left for his snowboarding trip in Denver this morning.)
  • Back home from the airport by 7am to get Tristen up and ready for school.
  • Took a 45 minute nap from 8-8:45am
  • Worked from home for 30 minutes in between getting ready.
  • Dentist appt at 10:30.
  • Got to the office at 1:15.
  • Leave the office at 5 to meet at the W Hotel for ‘strategy session’/validate our valet tickets.
  • Leave for AAC at 6:15.
  • Event for work at our Suite at the Dallas Stars game to hob nob with some of my high net-worth members.
  • Mike Modano appearance in our suite AFTER the game!

My guess is I will be home somewhere around midnight!
